- Sub: MacApp.Tech$ Cost Comparison
-
- One question that comes to mind concerning the new AppleLink pricing and the KC
- charge is: "What is the actual cost difference for MacApp.Tech$ for a typical
- month?"
-
- With assistance from Don Sawtelle and Arvid Jedlicka, we've put together some
- comparison figures. These figures are for DOWNLOADS ONLY. The time in
- uploading (sending) responses is not shown, and will vary widely from group
- member to group member, based on how active each is in responding to links.
-
- The first two columns show OLD rates (Prime and Non-prime Times), and the third
- and fourth columns show NEW rates with KC charges. The first line is the
- actual MacApp.Tech$ traffic for August, not representative of typical traffic
- which runs an average of between 500 KC to 1000 KC per month. Lines 2 and 3
- show these low (500 KC) and high (1000 KC) volumes.
-
- Period KC Count Old Prime Old Non-Prime New Prime New Non-Prime
-
- August 314 KC 29.40 14.70 25.10 22.58
-
- Low 500 KC 46.82 23.41 39.98 35.98
-
- High 1000 KC 93.64 46.82 79.96 71.96
-
- As you can see, there is about a 15% savings under the new rates for Prime
- Time. Non-Prime Time, however, reflects a 54% increase in cost. Non-Prime
- Time downloading is most often used by group members, though no actual numbers
- are available.
